Parallel Port

A hardware interface connection on a computer used to communicate with other hardware devices such as printers, scanners and some external hard disk drives. The USB port has effectively replaced the parallel port in most personal computers. Parallel ports are designated by slot positions such as LPT1, and LPT2.
